Well, probably no one has noticed, but it has been over a week since I’ve posted anything here on IronSharpensIron. But what a week it was! The week was “set up” actually two weekends ago, when my sweet wife leaned over my shoulder, and invitingly whispered into my ear, “Mark, that computer is just so [...] Now, you should know, if you know me at all, that my radio does not play country music. But… I was getting a snack at [where else?] a Snack Shop a while back, and the phrase “washed in the blood” caught my ear. I looked up the lyrics later. Here are part of them: Now [...] I heard a song this morning that tugged at my heart strings. Maybe it will do that for you too? (I found out later that the song writer was [is] Matthew West.] Here’s the portion of the lyrics that was especially meaningful to me: I don’t want to go through the motions I don’t want [...] When was the last time you were verbally assaulted, told your opinions were worthless, or, to use the modern lingo, completely “dissed”? My next to the last time was in the context of a Bible study. I had been asked to help a few folks understand how I had managed to come to a non-traditional [...] Well, apparently the article about Change Agent Jesus at Christianity: Then and Now pushed more people’s buttons than just mine. Below is Al Maxey’s response. I thought it was excellent. (Clearly he spent a LOT more time on this than I did!)
I heard a really good comment listening to a sermon this morning. The idea was that many of us read the Word looking for commands and rules, and sure enough, we find them. What do you think we would find though if we read the Word looking for signs of the AUTHOR instead? [...] | ||||||
