This is something I picked up 3<\/span>rd<\/span><\/sup>-hand, so unfortunately I can not properly credit the source \u2013 but he (The Source) was brilliant!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Picture this:\u00a0 He was speaking to a large youth event, probably 500 or so teens.\u00a0 Just after he is introduced he takes the microphone and says:\u00a0 \u201cEveryone, please get your cell phone.\u00a0 Once you have them in your hands, go ahead and open them.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

[You know what\u2019s coming next, don\u2019t you?\u00a0 As sure as you know that before you see a movie at the theater you will see an announcement to \u201cplease silence your cell phone,\u201d you know that he is about to say, \u201cPlease turn off your cell phones so nothing will interrupt\u00a0 your attention while I talk,\u201d right?\u00a0 Well, hold on\u2026]<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So once everyone has their cell phones out, the speaker says, \u201cOK, now be sure your phone is ON.\u00a0 If it\u2019s not on already, please go ahead and turn it on.\u00a0 Now, when you hear something about Jesus in my talk that you\u2019d not heard before, or something especially interesting about Him, please text\u00a0 3 friends about it, will you? Just tell them something like, \u2018I heard the coolest thing just now!\u00a0 Ask me about it tomorrow.\u201d\u00a0 Then tomorrow you will have 3 opportunities to tell your friends about your Lord.\u00a0 And hopefully you will hear more things that turn you on about Jesus today than just 3, and you will text more friends than just 3!\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wow, so why didn\u2019t I think of that?\u00a0 Guess what sort of sermon I was listening to?\u00a0 No, not a Teen-Oriented one.\u00a0 It was a, \u201cHow to reach today\u2019s culture for Jesus\u201d one.\u00a0 And the point was that we need to engage the culture where it is at.\u00a0 [Sorry about that dangling preposition.]\u00a0\u00a0 And if you know anything about teens today, you know they are \u201cat\u201d texting.\u00a0 [Please don\u2019t grade this post for grammer!]\u00a0 And they are \u201cat\u201d Facebook.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Use the technology they use to help them \u201chear\u201d what you say.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Oh, here\u2019s one more:\u00a0 Set a recurring alarm on your phone to 3:16 PM daily.\u00a0 When it rings, say a short prayer and ask God to help you see \u2013 REALLY see \u2013 3 people who need to know God loves them.\u00a0 When you see them\u2026 TELL them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
